Synthetic resin mixt. contg. poly-amino-amide-epoxide! addn. prods. - used in surface coatings and printing inks for photogravure and silk screen processes
The resin mixt. contains (A) a solid synthetic resin with free amino gps., consisting of a prod. of addn. of an epoxide resin and an excess of polyaminoamides. The amino cpds. used comprise (a) solid polyaminoamides with amine index 30-200 partic. 50-150 (prepd. from (i) 6-13C aliphatic dicarboxylic acids or their mixts.; and possibly (ii) aromatic and/or araliphatic and/or hydroaromatic carboxylic acids, possibly alkyl substd., at the rate of 0.95-0.05 partic. 0.8-0.2 equiv. w.r.t. carboxyl gps. and possibly (iii) (hydro)aromatic or aliphatic monocarboxylic acids, or acids or anhydrides behaving as monofunctional cpds. possibly mixed with (iv) dimeric fatty acids and/or pords. of addn. of acrylic acid on unsaturated fatty acids and/or heptadecane-dicarboxylic acis the acids react with an excess of (v) =1 diamine of formula (I):- (where R1 is H or CH3, R2 is -CH2-NH2 or -C(CH3)2-NH2); and possibly (vi) amines of formula H2N - (CHR)x - NH -H (Y) (where R is 1-4C alkyl or H, x is 2-6, and y is 2-4). Other amino cpds. are (b) aminoamide cpds. and/or amino-imidazoline cpds. and/or amonoamide cpds. with imidazoline gps. having equiv. wt. of amino gp. H of 90-500, based on polyalkylenepolyamines of formula Y; and/or (c) amines of formula Y or of formula H2N-(CHR)X-NH2 (where R is 1-4C alkyl or partic. H, x is 2-6 partic. (2); and/or (d) Mannich bases suitable for the hardening of epoxide resins, having =2 reactive amine H atoms. The resin mixt. also contains (B) a synthetic resin with free epoxide gps. formed from an addn. prod. obtd. from solid polyaminoamides as in (I), and an excess of an epoxide resin; and (C) solvents free from aromatics, and possibly pigments. This resin mixt. gives clear solns. and forms films which are dry and transparent after evapn. of the solvent, and which harden completely at around ambient temp.
