The polishing machine has a work table over which a slide is mounted, which can be moved towards and away from the work table. A polishing cylinder is mounted on this slide and is rotated about its centreline by a motor which is also mounted on the slide. The polishing cylinder with drive is mounted from a vertical spindle which is at right angles to the work table. The roller with its drive is rotated about this vertical cylinder. A workpiece is fed over the work table in a horizontal direction.
