Assembly technique for electrodes of electron beam generators - melts brackets into glass and radiation welds to electrodes

All the brackets to hold the electrodes are melted first of all into a support block of glass. The blocks are then assembled into a fixture together with the electrodes, and the brackets are welded to the electrodes by a technique in which no mechanical force is exerted on the brackets. Pref. a radiation technique such as laser beam or electron beam welding is used. The problem of the displacement and distortion due to heat stresses of the electrodes in electron beam generators for in-line colour image cathode ray tubes, when the electrodes are fitted with clips which are melted into glass rods, is overcome.
