The torsionally elastic power transmission unit incorporates means for damping out oscillatins. Paralle to the power transmission members (11, 12) are separate components (15) damping out torsional oscillation. Where the unit it a flexible coupling, the components (15, 16) can be curved blades each secured to one or the other of the coupling halves and fitting between each other. The intervening spaces between the blades are filled with fluid of high viscosity. In an alternative design, the blades may be spirally arranged. They are retained inside the flanges of a ring shaped outer casing.
