A picture frame has a backing plate (6) with a tip-up link joint to one edge (8) on the rear of the frame and fitted with a snap closure relative to the frame on the opposite edge (9). Both the frame and the back plate are fitted with profiles (21) at the snap-in closure which can be brought into contact with each other by the snapping in of the back plate. The back plate is made from a flexible material and may be pressed by the snap closure against the inner legs.
