The parameters are e.g. welding current, arc voltage, welding speed, temp., etc.; and the appts. includes a meter for the parameter, plus a visual display indicator for the actual value (Sa), which is also fed into a comparator fed with max. and min. desired values (Sref). After comparing Sa with Sref, the comparator supplies signals to display and/or switching units. Inside the cabinet contg. the appts. is a source of a reference voltage (Vref) with a constant output which can be fed into the meter instead of Sa via two switches; and Vref is used in a test procedure to ensure that the appts. is functioning correctly. Used e.g. when mfg. tubes or building reactors to ensure that appts. controlling welding operations is providing correct adjustment of welding parameters. The invention provides a simple but accurate test circuit.
