Shoe or boot, esp. for sports activities, comprises a solid sole firmly bonded to the shaft or uppers. The sole has an (outer) walking surface of abrasion-resistant rubber topped by a firmly adhering padding layer, e.g. of polyurethane foam. The walking surface is bevelled or curved upwards near the toe portion and/or the heel portion. The curved or bevelled zone of the walking surface protrudes beyond the upper surface of the padding layer, and that protruding zone(s) has its inner surface adhesively bonded to the shaft or uppers, e.g. by glueing or vulcanising.
