The transformer has a tap changer for high step powers. Its windings or winding parts are divided in parallel windings branches, thus dividing the current. These parallel winding branches consist of coil groups wound with only one, and then only the other parallel conductor. All coil groups (2) for each parallel winding branch consist of one of several layer windings placed axially behind each other. The winding layers are also parallel with the iron core (3) of the transformer.
