The support plate (1) of the vehicle seat is provided to suit different seat tops to suit riding conditions. It is guided on the two tubular columns (2) by four sleeves (3) which are preferably connected to the support plate by resilient rubber sleeves (4) which are pressed into the tubes (5) fixed at the four corners of the support plate. The inner sleeves (3) provide a partically silent action which is free of play thus increasing the life of the seat. The rubber sleeves resiliently support the plate and lead any shocks etc. thrugh the inner sleeves into the columns.
