The bench, especially for a corner, has a retractable extension (2) on at least one side. The extension consists of a screen (3) to which are fixed rods, bars or such like (4) which move along guides (5), and on which a seat (6) with backrest (7) is placed. On the front side of the extension is a support (9) which can be folded up, consisting of a tubular bracket hinged to the underneath of the seat, and locked in position when it is folded up, by a sprung clamp. The seat and back rest are hinged together, and, when not in use, are folded under the seat.
