The ignition coil for an IC engine has a ferrite core. There is a device for switching the ignition coil primary winding at the engine combustion intervals. It is designed to switch the primary winding repeatedly in a group or series of switching operations which proceed in cycles. The repetition frequency of the switching processes in a group has a constant value which is independent of the engine speed and much higher than any normal engine ignition frequency.
