The water boiler, particularly of steel, has a firebox and a divided water chamber with water inlet and outlet unions. One or more water inlet unions (14) are mounted on the front part of the boiler, and the water outlet union can be mounted close to it there also. The inlet can discharge into the water chamber (43) above the firebox (2), and particularly above the flute (4). Inlet and/or outlet unions can be in a section of the boiler wall detachably secured in place, the inlet having a guide tube extending into the rear part of the boiler.
