The annular-wing aircraft is capable of hovering and has a solid-of-revolution lift zone (5) with horizontal 'chord' and aerodynamically profiled upper surface. Over this is blown a gas stream from the peripheral outlet orifice (4) of an annular header (3) into which discharge several gas turbines (2). An annular baffle (6) above the wing outer rim deflects the gas stream, plus outer air it entrains, downwards around the craft. The craft can have several concentric lift zones, with profiles varying to reflect varying gas speeds. In this case the baffle (6) is fitted over the outermost zone.
