The exchange has operating positions with signal indicating devices and position circuits, and with answering networks allocated to transmission devices connected to a centrally controlled connecting device. Transmission devices are connected through them, to operating positions in incoming and outgoing directions. Each answering network has identification switches allocated to the corresponding transmission device. They control a disconnecting device, so that before interrogation marking signals are applied to operating positions, in parallel, but after answering only to the answering position.
