Travelling bridge for sewage setting basins - with driven central travelling gear offset against outer gears (OE 15.7.78)

A travelling bridge for the raking arms of sewage settling basins is supported both at its ends and in its centre part. The central travelling gear lies outside the imaginary line joining the two outer travelling gears so that the bridge has in plan view a Vee or a Tee shape. Compared with a single-span bridge, the bridge is stressed less highly and can be constructed of light weight. Compared with a two-span bridge in a straight-line design, the resulting static indeterminateness has been eliminated and inaccuracies in the foundations are automatically compensated.
