Appts. for microwave drying of harmful radioactive droplets - using long hollow vertical conductor with free fall of droplets

Appts. for the prodn. of solid particles from flowable media, esp. those contng. waste material harmful to life, synthetic resin and nuclear fuels, consists of a microwave generator, connected by a microwave conductor to a metal applicator. The applicator imparts the energy to the droplets to solidify them. After passing adjacent to the metal applicator, the droplets are removed through a discharge section. The applicator consists of a vertical hollow conductor system, into which the droplets of predetermined diameter enter centrally at the top. The cross-section of the conductor is pref. rectangular, specifically square. The length of the conductor system is pref. 10-10,000 (50-1,000) times the smallest internal dia.
