Resin bonded particle board with veneer covers is moulded to obtain heavy surface relief by including a layer of resin impregnated sawdust between the layer(s) of resin impregnated wood chips and the cover sheets and by covering the laminate faces with kraft paper during compression moulding of the covers against a heavy relief surface preformed on the core layers. Used for moulding boards with proud features on one or both faces of boards bonded by urea, melamine, phenolic or epoxy based resins. The paper covers inhibit premature drying of the veneer to enhance the amt. of deformation possible with reproduction of sharp surface detail.
