The floor or stairs cleaning mop consists of a long handle to the bottom of which is fixed a head. The head has one attachment to which a washing cloth (8) consisting of at least two textile porous pieces joined at one end, is fixed. The washing cloth (8) is detachably fixed. A second attachment (16) is for holding the washing cloth in a raised non-operational position by means of a first fixture, or in an operating lowered position by means of a second fixture (13, 14). The first fixture consists of a rail at one end of the wash-cloth. The second fixture consists of string (13) fixed to the other end of the cloth. A plastics or metal container with a lid contains a clean wash cloth.
