A packaging element for generally spherical objects is provided with parts or surfaces which at least partly coincide with the surfaces of regular polyhedrons for separating the objects either individually or in groups into a three dimensional symmetric grid. One embodiment comprises an inner sheet cut and folded to have upstanding portions with flat tops 1 arranged alternately in two perpendicular directions with troughs having flat bottoms 2, the tops and bottoms being connected by inclined rectangular portions 3, and identical outer sheets located on each side of the inner sheet and provided with cutouts defining triangular portions 9 which are folded inwardly and adhered by their edges to the edges of adjacent inclined portions 3 whereby hollow spaces 12 are formed for receiving respective objects on both sides of the element.
