The method is for the production of axial sealing rings from hard metal blocks (3), which are placed in a ring-shaped groove (2) of a bearer unit (1), and then fixed by means of solder. The blocks are actually set in a bath of liquid solder located in the groove, and in the peripheral direction of the groove are each pressed together with their radial end surfaces (4) by using a radial tension bolt (7) before the solder sets. The method obviates the inconvenience of the solder between the end surfaces becoming eroded.
