The densimeter has a first pressure measuring point upstream and a second pressure measuring point downstream in the measuring tube. The inside diameter at the first measuring point is smaller than the inside diameter at the second measuring point. The first measuring point (2) is placed directly adjacent to the transition between the feed tube (16) and measuring tube. The inside diameter and the spacing of the measuring points (2, 6) are such that the pressure change resulting due to the presence of the feed tube is compensated at the measuring points.
