A ten pin bowling alley has the pins restored to their upright position by cables which are wound on to drums. The drums are driven by friction clutches from the shaft through a train of gears and belts from the motor. The tension of the belt is controlled by the rotation of the cam on the shaft driven from the shaft through a train of gears. In the event of the motor failing to stop at the end of a cycle the clutch slips and operates a mechanism which disengages the gears and actuates a switch to cut off the current.
