Gas scrubber has recirculating slurry of alkali to scrub out impurities from exhaust gases. The scrubbing liquor is circulated to the sprays from a sump. Liquor from this also overflows into a settling tank. The gas passes through a droplet separator and then through a scrubber tray. Liquor is fed to this from the clarified liquor tank. This takes liquor overflowing from the settling tank plus additional dilution water and recycles it to the upper part of the tower to improve the removal of fine particles from the gas stream. Used for scrubbing exhaust gas to remove SD2 and other contaminants plus particulate materials. Appts. gives improved dust removal.
