Switching device has spring-mounted electrodes attached to a common movable electrode beam. each welding unit positioned above the grating to be welded is mounted to facilitate upward and downward movement on the beam. A change-over mechanism that functions independently of the movement of the beam can be adjusted as required from an upper position, at which the respective electrode is in welding position, and to a lower position, at which the electrode is in confluence, and vice versa.
