This actuating mechanism for the toggle actuated ram ensures that the full pressing force is available well before the bottom dead centre of the toggle press ram and that the dies of the press are not closed for excessively long periods. The toggle linkage is actuated by the eccentric which is connected to the actuating linkage. The eccentric is connected by means of a bore in one of the actuating linkage elements, and it is supported in this hole. It is not necessary that the connection is made on the line connecting two pivoting joints in the system. A ram carries out one working stroke cycle over one rotation of the eccentric. The movement initiated by the eccentric is transmitted to the toggle linkage by means of an intermediate link which is pivoted.
