Appts. for the mfre. of a seamless garment, using a circular knitter, is esp. for making one-piece stocking tights, with the seat section formed by a reciprocating knitting action to shape the two leg openings, together with two side pieces and the front section, with the crutch section formed by a number of knitted rows at each end to anchor it in place between the leg sections and to overlap at the front and rear sections. In the front and rear sections, in the zones ranging away from the crutch, there is a larger number of knitted rows than in the crutch zone, where some of the rows end in the crutch anchor zone without stretching as far as the crutch. The system gives a high-speed manufacturing process, giving a one-piece seamless stocking tights garment which sits on the figure, with the required stretch and appearance.
