1465667 Phosphorus-containing pyrimidine derivatives BAYER AG 8 Oct 1975 [26 Oct 1974] 41244/75 Heading C2P The invention comprises compounds of the general formula wherein R is C 1 -C 6 alkyl and RSP1/SP is alkoxy, alkylthio, monoalkylamino or dialkylamino each with 1 to 6 C atoms in the alkyl group and X is O or S. They may be obtained by reacting a halid : (RO)(RSP1/SP)P(X)Hal where Hal is halogen with a compound the latter being reacted as the free base, as the hydrochloride thereof or as an alkali metal-, alkaline earth metal- or ammonium salt thereof, the reaction using the free base or its hydrochloride being suitably effected in the presence of an acid binding agent. The products have pesticidal properties and may be used as active ingredients in conventional pesticidal compositions. The compound CH 2 COCH(Cl)COCH 3 is obtained by dropwise addition of a solution of sulphuryl chloride in methylene chloride to a solution of pentane-2,4-dione in methylene chloride and then heating the mixture under reflux. Reaction of the product with urea in ethanolic solution in the presence of conc. HCl yields the compound
