The reinforcement band is for letting in button hole surrounds and the edges of the band (2) are formed from at least two continuously looped threads (3) extending in parallel at a distance from each other and connected to each other by at least one cross thread (4a). The loops in the two spaced threads run continuously throughout the length of the threads each loop being led back on the previous one in such a way that the shape is maintained. By selecting material for the longitudinal threads of a predetermined stiffness, the relative distance between them is kept constant and the transverse thread(s) (4) maintains its straight shape.
