Protecting hot water boilers against excessive lime deposits - esp. for hot drinks by boiling over-acidified water with limestone

Equipment for boiling water is protected against excessive deposits and corrosion by the addn. of acids and/or acid salts to the water, any excess of acidity being reduced by raising the temp. of the water to around 98 degrees C in the presence of limestone; there being a cartridge, penetrable by water contg. limestone or a similar material, positioned above the source of heat in the boiler. Action takes place quickly without any risk of disturbance of the character of the water and the spoiling of its taste.
