The plate (10) has a side folded up each end, and is screwed (11) underneath the fixed portion (1) of the table, and holds two pins (13a, 13b) projecting downwards. These form bearings for the gate leg assemblies, one fitting on each pivot and stowed away under the fixed portion when not in use. Each bush (17a, 17b) has a lug (18a, 18b) forming a seating for a link (20) connected between them by pivots (21b, 22a). When either gate leg is pulled forwards underneath the drop leaf of support it, the linkage causes the other gate leg to move out in identical fashion. Pushing in one assembly similarly moves the other inwards.
