Mooring system for vessels - has tensile force sensors in mooring elements and means to adjust forces in accordance with sensor signals

The system is intended for mooring a vessel to a mooring facility on a jetty or pier using a number of mooring elements (9). The mooring elements comprise sensors (8) for the tensile force. The vessel is moored in balanced condition by adjusting the forces exerted on the respective mooring elements in accordance with the stress signals generated by the sensors. The mooring elements may comprise securing members such as a bollard (5) on the pier, hooks (9), groups of mooring cables (6) connected to the hooks, and winches on board the vessel to tension the cables. The sensors may consists of pairs of strain gauges each pair consisting of an active and a non-active gauge to form load cells.
