The base (6) forms a tray and has a rotating spray bar (8, 9) for distributing the water. The cover (1), fitting over the contents in a basket, has straight sides (2, 3) and a recess (22) in one corner, which is separated from the cover by a wall (22') in which is a slot (21). This recess holds an electric motor, with one end of its spindle driving the water circulating pump and the other end having a fan. This fan drives air through the slot, over a baffle plate and gives to the water an improved washing action. A cover (5'), with louvres, fits over the motor unit.
