The caravan wheel suspension assembly has an inverted "U" - bracket (7) bolted to the underside of the longitudinal chassis member. A swinging arm (11) supports the wheel at its lower end (6) and is pivotted (28) about a bracket (18) hanging below the U - bracket. A projection of the swinging arm into the U - bracket is connected to a rod (29). The swinging arm projection compresses a helical spring (23) which is located in a open-ended cylinder (15) welded within the U - bracket. The rod travels through the cylinder and has a rubber deformable damping pad (30) between the cylinder back face (17) and a plate (31) on the rod end.
