Dehydration damage preventer for newly transplanted tree - with trunk enclosed by impermeable band with dampened foam sponge interior

The band (1) forms an impermeable plastic backing, this being the outer surface when the band is used. Its inner surface is coated with a layer (2) of rot proof plastic cellular foam dampened before application. This layer stops a distance away from one longitudinal edge, leaving a width (1a) which can be coated with an adhesive. This layer forms a sealing joint when the band is spirally wound, as a continuous strip, up the trunk of the tree. The adhesive can be replaced by a re-useable width of small plastic hooks, engaging similar ones (1b) on the outer face of the other longitudinal edge.
