The reinforcing ring is for use in underground plastic storage tanks. It comprises a strap (2) which forms a ring on the inside of the tank. The strap has an outside flange which rests against the side of the tank. A joining strap (5) is bolted to the flange of the main ring (2) so as to maintain the correct length of ring and take the load when the tank is under external pressure. The ring strap pref. has a T-cross section, the ends of the strap being joined by plates on each side of the stem of the T.
