Water current powered machine - has vertical shaft anchored to bed by cables and mounting rotor with pivoted blades on upper and lower surfaces (BR3.8.76)
Water current powered machine - has vertical shaft anchored to bed by cables and mounting rotor with pivoted blades on upper and lower surfaces (BR3.8.76)
The machine has a vertical shaft which may be mounted in a river bed or in the sea bed. A rotor is mounted on the shaft and has radial arms blades being pivotally mounted on the arms. The blades are mounted on the upper and lower surfaces of the rotor, frameworks being provided on each arm to limit the pivotal movement of the blades. The upper blades of the rotor have a density less than that of water, the lower blades having a density greater than water. The shaft may be anchored by cables which allow it to tilt under the action of excessive currents.
