摘要

2-Alkoxy-2-acetamido-carboxylic acids and esters of formula (I) are novel. In (I) R1 is H or opt. branched 1-18C alkyl; R2 = H, opt. branched 1-18C alkyl or an aromatic residue; R3 = H or opt. branched 1-3C alkyl and R4 = opt. branched 1-3C alkyl. (I) are intermediates for the corresp. 2-oxo-carboxylic acid and esters which are used to treat uremia. The 2-oxo-carboxylic acids are obtd. in yields of more than 60% from the 2-aminocarboxylic acids via (I) and hydrolysis whereas known methods give 25% yield maximum. (I) are prepd. by chlorination of the 2-acetamido-carboxylic acid and reaction with R4OH and alkali metal or the alkylate. Pref. cpds. are (I) R1,R2 are methyl, ethyl, propyl or isopropyl or R2 = phenyl and R3,R4 = methyl.
