Tobacco strand and paper separating process - using air current parallel to vibratory conveyor in opposite direction to material travel

The process separates a mixture of strands of tobacco and pieces of paper, being for use when recovering the tobacco from cigarettes which have been shredded after being found sub-standard. The mixture is delivered onto a vibratory conveyor, and a current of gas is directed onto it parallel to the travel direction but opposite to it. The gas current can be of air, blown towards the interior of the parabola through which the incoming mixture falls. The mixture can be spread by means of a smooth plate, inclined to the horizontal over the width of the trough-type conveyor.
