Sylvite flotation from potassium salts - with amino-alkanol collectors derived from epoxidised olefins and diamines

Collector for flotation of sylvite from crude K salts contains aminoalkanols having formula R1-CH(OH)-CH -NH-(CH2)n-NH2 -R2 (I) where R1 and R2 are H and/or 1-18 n-alkyl; sum of C in R1 and R2 is 9-18 and n is 2-4 esp. 3) and/or their salts. Sylvite concentrates contg. 60% K2O can be used as fertilisers. Collectors have high selectivity. Sylvite concentrates having very high K2O content can be obtd. in excellent yields. In an example, (I) was prepd. from an 11-14C epoxide mixt. derived from 11-14C mono-olefines, reacted with propylene diamine.
