The tank enables a vertically moved wire to have a coating applied to it by means of a fluidised electrostatic coating process and has a device to control the thickness of the powder coating on the wire in the form of an upward directed passage (8). The upward directed passage (8) extends through the tank wall from outside to inside and has devices (6,7) by means of which the lowest entry point height of the passage (8) may be adjusted either upwards or downwards.
