Nondestructive ultrasonic sheet fault testing - uses sensitive pulsed echo and transmission probes located on both sides of specimen giving optimised test range

The system for non-destructive testing of sheet and tape for faults, using known ultrasonic techniques, is intended to improve test results w.r.t. evaluation, increased sensitivity of the transmission process, and optimisation of the test range. The pulsed echo and transmission methods are used in combination and the specimen is tested from both sides. The transparent enclosure consists of a water container (2, 3) with pulse test probes. Each test probe is connected to a trans receiver unit (7, 10, 8, 9) and in addition one main amplifier (11) is provided for both trans receiver units (8, 9, 7, 10) and linked to an analyser (12).
