A hydraulically operated scoop or shovel has a double slider between the chassis and the container. The vertical slide track is a J beam and is connected to the chassis by another J beam forming a horizontal guide track. Both are interconnected by a sliding member which engages the two adjacent flanges of the two J beams. The container is mounted by top and bottom collars on a vertical spindle parallel with the vertical J beam. A bevel pinion is mounted on the top of this spindle and meshes with a bevel wheel mounted on a horizontal spindle extending from the vertical J beam, so that it can be sprung through a wide angle by a hydraulic cylinder inside the beam. The container is also tilted by another cylinder.
