Novel ferrocene phosphines are of formula (I) or (II) In the formula Z is -CO-W-COOR', -W-COOR', R', -CH(OH)-W-CH2OH or -CH-(OH)-W-CH3, R' is H or alkyl w is -(CH2)n-, and R=aryl, n=1 or 2). Specific (I) are Ph bis(3-methoxycarbonylpropionyl-1-ferrocenyl)phosphine, corresp. oxide, and Ph bis(3-methoxycarbonylpropyl-1-ferrocenyl)phosphine oxide.
