The food storage system is particularly for cooked meals comprising a number of different ingredients. The food is contained in a metal box or jar in a quantity representing a number of individual portions which, on issuing, receive an equal quantity of various ingredients. Some of the ingredients are accommodated inside the box in a separate pocket of synthetic material compatible with the food, closed at both ends and with perforations in the walls, so as to isolate the contents from the remainder until serving. There can be a separate pocket for use with each portion.
