Gas mixture analysis by emission spectrometry - using diffraction grating to photomultiplier with electronic signal processing transmitting light through rotating transparent sheet
The emission spectrometry equipment is for the analysis of a gaseous mixture containing at least two gases or isotopes of the same gas, each of which can emit a luminous radiation. The wavelength of these emissions must be relatively close. The emission from the gas passes through one or more diffraction gratings (52, 56) and photomultipliers (58). The diffraction grating or gratings are fixed. A flat, transparent sheet (54) with parallel faces is placed between the grating and the photomultiplier's entrance slit. This sheet is rotated at constant speed about an axis perpendicular to the beams diffracted by the grating. The sheet has special characteristics which are described in detail. The electronic signal treatment equipment includes amplitude measurement amd memory units.
