Forced draught electrically heated air convector - has oil filled finned tubes containing electric heating elements for indirect heat transfer

The convector has a turbine type blower (22) in the lower part of the casing driven by an electric motor (25). The casing has an air passage (1) from an inlet (3) in the base of the casing over the blower to a discharge register (17) in the top of the casing. There are heating elements (9) within this air passage. Each element consists of a tube (18) which is filled with oil and closed at both ends. The tube contains an electric immersion heater and has circular fins (19) on its outside. This provides indirect heating of the air. At the same time the fins provide a large heating surface which reduces the overall size of the convector.
