Automatic brake for ski - has arms of spring frame held along ski by toggle action to move outwards and downwards when boot pressure is removed

The brake is fitted to a ski and operates automatically when boot pressure is removed. It comprises a U-Shaped spring wire frame (9a), its ends turned angularly outwards and then brought approx. parallel (7a) to the sides of the ski (1a). The angled sections fit into a slot (5a) in a baseplate (2a) on the ski and an intermediate frame (16a) fits inside the first, its ends contacting the baseplate and its top connected to the first frame by a link (17a). When this is depressed under boot pressure, the angled sections contact one side of the slot and the arms lie alongside the ski.
