Loom e.g. dobby treadle selection - with centrifugal weights acting with ram and slide to give automatic selection sequence

The mechanism for the automatic operation of the treadle selection for a dobby, or other loom, has a moving unit to separate the loom shafts and a rotary unit connected to the dobby shaft and driven by an auxiliary motor. At least one centrifugal wt. is keyed to the shaft of the auxiliary motor, and fitted with elastic return units. These hold the centrifugal wt. in a lower position so that if the auxiliary motor is rotated, the centrifugal wt. is raised sufficiently to allow the two control units to be operated in sequence. Arrangement allows by dobby to be rotated in either direction, independently of the loom, such as on a yarn breakage or other fault, until the exact synchronisation with the pattern is achieved.
