Kerb inset side entry gulley for highway drainage - has length adjustable two piece screening bars which are cast into dished channel

The side-entry road gulley may be built into roadside kerbing (4), for highway drainage. It has vertical screening bars (8) which are adjustable for length. The bars (8) traverse a lateral opening or inlet (6) which may be built into the kerb (4) face, and the in situ concrete channel (5) may have a recessed and dished gathering apron (7). The adjustability of the bars (8) enables them to be cast into the channel (7) with allowance for variations in channel contours. Each bar (8) is in two pieces (8a, 8b) which can move axially relative to one another, and may be a simple telescopic arrangement of a bar (8a) and a tube (8b). The base of the tube (8b) may be externally flanged for anchoring in the channel, and the head of the bar (8a) may be threaded to screw into a socket in the gulley frame (3).
