Tomb markers comprising a transparent panel on a masonry base - for low cost displaying of protected inscriptions

A tombstone plaque comprises a solid base block of e.g., granite, marble, stone, supporting a lightweight panel of transparent synthetic resin incorporating internal inscriptions and/or decorations as appropriate. Pref. the resin is PMMA or polyester resin. The plaques are lighter and cheaper than decorated memorials totally of stone, etc., and more stable than tomb furniture made solely of plastics materials. Opt. the reverse face of the transparent panel is opaque and/or coloured and conceals the fastenings which secure it to the base.
